In the story the hedgehog did not succeed getting into the rabbithutch, to get a nice night of warm rest, but nevertheless I made an illustration about what could have happened if he would have. Just like in children movies, when a nasty looking and nasty acting aunt is coming over to stay. Cutting/thorny as well. Poor hedgehog. Had to find a place in the cold forest. That's not a place for hedgehogs, but for nasty aunties.

Heavy weight

Last night, I made this drawing with the intention for the opening of a to come new website. Hey, I have a belly (104 kilo's - lost 6 in the last 5 weeks) right now, but this is too much. And the lower department is more likely to waggle than to walk. I just came back of a 45 minute walk, I do at least 4 times a week. And I'm not strolling, no, I'm walking the walk. It also looks like you can push me over just like that. Not much beside the truth perhaps, but no reason to make it that obvious for clients to visit the website. Guess I have to do it again.

Week of childrenbooks 5
click picture to play or enlargeTime got lost this week. But I do not want to end this week without attention to a magician. Thé Tjong-Khing is his name and he has illustrated many children books and fairy tales. A long time ago, in my adoloscence ( my guess, some 37 years ago ), he was a contestant in a filmquiz on the tellie. He was magnificent at that as well. He won again and again. Way back then he made comix for adults. much more slick than nowadays.

In Holland there are some excellent children's book illustrators. One of them is Phlip Hopman. His drawings can be full of drama, like above or touch the ordinary daily life. Always connecting to the beauty of people and situations. Always a very loose hand of drawing, yet details with great accuracy. I love his work. I'm still very sorry not to have bought the book he illustrated about the Grimm's fairy tales. I saw them on a exhibition, however.
