dope pens

click picture to play or enlarge
Here in Holland you can buy hashish at certain coffeeshops. They come in bags like above. Well this is my dope. And my dealer is a Calligraphy-site. In the majority of the artstuff shops the only pens you can get are Plume Atome and some Hiro pens(do not like Hiro pens). Twice I've been, in the previous century, on two visits to London, to "His Nibs". Thousands of different pens. Philip Poole was the owner. Unfortunately he deceased in 1999 and his shop is no more.
Ofcourse it was impossible to search what you wanted, but it was a delight to discuss what you desired of your pen and he made a selection of one of the assorted boxes he had ready with loads of pens to try. I have about 150 different ones.
The above pens are both Hunt. No 102 and 108.

gedicht/Poem: Twee in EEN/Two in ONE

click picture to play or enlarge
De wereld vernietigt mijn tenen.
De nieuwe engel vol verlangen.
In de wiek geschoten.
Door het niet meer bestaande zijn.
Muzikanten verlaten hun stoelen.
Voor dreinen bevreesd.
Licht uit de tunnel gedoofd in de vuist.
De jagers niet gekomen.
Geen keus, slechts volgen.

The world is destroying my toes
The new angel full of desire
Shot in the wing
By the no more excisting being
Musicians leave their chairs
Afraid of whining
Light from the tunnel extinguished with a fist
the hunters did not come
No choice, just follow

Waiting line 1

click picture to play or enlarge
Sometimes you are waiting, waiting for a bus, train, for your flight, in the supermarket, at the doctor, dentist, hairdresser, at the sportclub and so on. Lots of people are around you, whose personality and/or lives are not known to you. And in their attitude and handling starts to appear an image or a caricature of what they (possibly) are. Some of them seem untouchable, they stay an outside image. It's not that I see things like this, but I would not know a better way at this moment to express the feeling of it.

Illustration Friday: Remote

click picture to play or enlarge

This weeks topic, Remote, is a continuation on my "Lost" contribution of two weeks ago.
(Last week I was gone for a vacation. Sun, sea and sinn.)
Back to the topics. Head and body want to be joined, but, heeeee, when you are remote and lost, it is not always that simple. But wanting to be joined is a good start.

Danger

click picture to play or enlarge

Beware, farmer's children for the kid-killing machines. This topic is about the danger of dark mornings and late afternoons on the small roads during the winter. Kids going to or coming from school are a prey for the big wheels.
But there is much danger in the farmworld. In Belgium, just across the border, two young brothers were shredded to pieces when they fell in the woodshredder, before the eyes of their father. Cruelty and horror at the top. You can't even bury them. The very thought of it, how the parents felt, makes you feel dazzling sad.

T-shirt?

click picture to play or enlarge

I have contact with a new T-shirt company. Have 3 designs which may produce. This one is one suggestion from my side. Tell you more about the details if it works out.
Biggest difficulty in this is that the skate or alternative scene are the best buyers. And they want Design with a twist. Roughly spoken. I'm at my best, so far, making funny illustrations. I'm trying to close the gap between these two views. One of my suggestions made the company think to start a kids-line too. That's where my funny illustration style will work , probably.

Gearwheels

click picture to play or enlarge
Same magazine as the previous days. Made the wheels and stuff like that in Freehand. (Macromedia is now owned by Adobe since a couple of months and the Freehand-community fears that they will kill Freehand, which in many ways is a more versatile vector program than Illustrator. I have a copy of them both. Only hope is that some other company is given the chance to take over Freehand.)
Starting at the small red arrow the kids have to decide which way the girl is pedalling and if the bucket is going up or down.

music again, hips.

click picture to play or enlarge

Like yesterday's topic, an illustration for "Nieuws Uit De Natuur"(News from Nature), a magazine made by a dutch schooltelevision-publisher, which accompanies a schooltelevisionprogram with the same title. Technology is now part of Nature Sciences which replaces Biology on the basic schools.
You see here three beerbottles. One empty and two a little bit filled, which give a different tone when tapped with a teaspoon. And in this way you can make music. I tried to find the tones of a white wine bottle last night. Had to empty it whole to find all the tones. The tones sounded more loose towards the end and the music appeared more from inside of my head than coming from the bottle. Went singing to bed. Just capable of keeping my voice down to prevent my girls to wake up.

Message in a bottle.

music

click picture to play or enlarge

Playing music, Cranberries, while I'm working my buts of to get everything in time for the clients. Busy, busy, busy. And tired, tired, tired. Because it get's late. Hardly have time to write this. This here is my band, really enjoying their thing.
The pianocat and the violinbird are playing in a flowing manner, thus no loudness stripes, here. The saxbadger plays a lazy, smooth and jazzy loudness. Stripes are somewhat greyed. But, hee! The dogdrummer let's himself no doubt to be heard. He lays a carpet of solid beat. Supports the contributions of the others. In a Keith Moon-kind of way. Good band.

Tired. Almost too tired to be satisfied. Nevertheless I am.

Illustration Friday: Lost

Confused. Lost your head. You are lost in desolation. You keep going on, but your head is not with you anymore. And you did not even notice. And if you notice, how are you getting it back on.

Small reality

Very small puppets in a situation with food and stuff from the kitchen. These two photographers create lifelike situations, beautifully created and photographed. Extraordinary.
By the way, credits to GLUBIBULGA, where I found this site. GLUBIBILGA offers in two rows, nearly updated on a daily basis, on one side a row of artists and on the other side remarkable, striking sites.

hair dresser

click picture to play or enlarge

Went to the hairdresser, Saturday. Nothing special, except they are from Iraq. Two ladies and a man. This time the man did me. He himself looked exceptional well tended, black curly hair with whiskers, clean looking and I tend to say somewhat vain.
Modern Arabic music constantly on the background, it sounded influenced by Sting. That's to say, the non arabic instruments.
No reason to show my own head. That's why I made some quick sketches about hair.
